The Triple Helix at University of California, Berkeley

Present at the AAAS Conference in San Diego in Feb 2010!

9 October 2009

The Triple Helix Poster Session at the Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is now accepting abstract submissions. The AAAS is the organization that publishes the Science magazine (which is regarded as one of the most prestigious scientific journals in the world) and their annual meeting attracts distinguished scientists and professionals from around the world. The 2010 Conference will take place in San Diego February 18-22nd in San Diego. The Triple Helix posters session will take place on Sunday, Feb. 21st and there will be a retreat for TTH members and officers on Saturday, Feb. 20th. Please note that you do not need to participate in the poster session in order to attend the retreat on Saturday.

Poster session participants will have to make a poster (much like at an official scientific conference that focuses on lab work) about their research (usually article) topic, and then present the content to circulating judges for a prize.

In order to present, please email your abstract directly to Bharat Kilaru, the Executive Editor-in-Chief, (bkkilaru@gmail.com) by October 10th at 11:59 EST, so that the international editorial team can make suggestions and catch any submissions that don't fit the criteria of "interdisciplinary analysis in science, society, and law". Your abstract must be 1500 characters or less (including spaces) and must have a title that is 150 characters or less (including spaces). These abstracts are published in the official AAAS Event Guide, so we want them to be high-quality and reflective of the work we do in TTH. Once your abstract is approved (which should be taken care of by the 12th, to allow for website submission trip-ups), you will get information about how to submit it online. The abstract submission deadline on the AAAS website is October 14th, 2009.

In order to minimize expenses, you can volunteer as a session aide for eight hours during the conference in order to receive free conference registration. The Triple Helix will try to arrange accommodations with local student members in order to further reduce incurred costs. You will receive either complete or partial reimbursements for travel and poster printing. The international board also has information and resources available to assist you in finding additional funding from external sources.
